I’ve always been one to search for the best, be it music, books, or beauty; so go ahead and call me picky because I am. New indie beauty brands emerge yearly and as a professional makeup artist, and a writer for Beauty News NYC, you can rest assured that I am introduced to most of them from the get-go. I’m thrilled to share my best finds, so you too can discover why these indie brands are in every cool girl’s makeup bag.

Cover FX: Cover FX vegan and cruelty-free products help you look your best while also improving your skin over time. Foundation is their specialty and their mission is to give every woman her perfect match. With over 40 beautiful shades, their unique formulas provide a precise match. Once you find your shade, you can wear it with confidence. The formula is non-irritating and each product is packed with vitamins, emollients and redness reducers. Choose the coverage level that suits your needs. Sheer or full? You decide. I’m lovin’ their Custom Cover Drops and Perfect Pencil Concealer.

PÜR Cosmetics: PÜR describes their makeup as “The Complexion Authority” and “Makeup with a Purpose.” The products are infused with good-for-your-skin ingredients that cover and correct. Their limited edition, The Freedom Collection is inspired by the film The Divergent Series: Allegiant. It’s a great introduction to the brand, and there are light and dark shades available for all complexions.

Tata Harper Cosmetics: Tata Harper grew up in Colombia, where beauty was a way of life. When her stepfather was diagnosed with cancer, she started to pay closer attention to ingredients. Upon seeing so many potentially harmful chemicals in the products that comprised her daily routine, she linked up with team of global experts to create Tata Harper Cosmetics. The line is devoid of any toxic ingredients and Tata Harper manufacturers most of their own ingredients on their farm in Vermont. Talk about farm to face beauty! The Volumizing Lip and Cheek Tint in Very Naughty is a favorite of mine right now.

Fiona Stiles Beauty: Celeb makeup artist Fiona Stiles has launched a professional color cosmetics range that is rooted in artistry and education. She’s on a mission to remove the intimidation that so many women have about makeup. The packaging is beautiful and the “Mistake Free” lipsticks and eyeliners, with their on point shades impressed me in a big way. You’ll love the high intensity and long lasting colors. This line is so fun to play with, and it’s easy to create looks from subtle to dramatic to suit your mood or occasion.

Trust Fund Beauty: If you haven’t heard of Trust Fund Beauty yet, allow me to make the intro. The brand is transforming the beauty industry with fun, fabulous colors and equally fab names. Trust Fund Beauty is a nail polish and lipstick line that is 100% vegan and cruelty-free, all the while remaining chic and glamorous. The products boast names like “Just Talk To My Lawyer” and “Champagne Problems”. When the brand founder Samara Granofsky learned her mother had cancer, she wasn’t about to let her mom’s digits look drab and searched out less toxic products and ingredients, and the collection was created.
